In draping class this semester I was able to express my creativity though organized projects, through this I have learned many great and important skills. I have so many designs I created in this class that I am proud of. However I chose to display my strapless foundation with rushed top and my side pleated dress for my portfolio because of their use of draping and pattern skills combined. For the strapless foundation I was able to drape the garment on my dress-form creating a contoured fit and then transfer to paper where I slashed and spread the outer layer and creating other foundation layers. I had never created a strapless foundation in this manner before and love the way it fit and how easy it was. For the side pleated dress I used the body form as a guide for placing the pleats. Pleating and tucking to create natural folds and shape. This is a method I will use all of the time. The fit of this dress is only achieved with draping. I will use draping in the future and have already created many designs using the skills I have learned. Draping is FUN! .
